National Crime Prevention Council

The National Crime Prevention Council’s mission is to be the nation's leader in helping people keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe from crime. To achieve this, NCPC produces tools that communities can use to offer home protection and learn crime prevention strategies, engage community members, and coordinate with local security agencies, including:

• Publications and teaching materials on a variety of personal safety topics
• Safety programs that can be implemented in communities and schools
• Local, regional, and national trainings on home protection
• Public service announcements broadcast nationwide starring McGruff the Crime Dog
• Support for a national coalition of crime prevention practitioners

McGruff the Crime Dog

The world famous crime stopper who dispenses advice on how to stop crime before it happens by ensuring personal safety. His job is to help people, especially kids, learn how to be safe and make their neighborhood safer by teaching them about fire safety and burglar protection.
